| TYPES OF PROBATION |
| There are generally three types of probation. The first type of probation is regular probation. In this type of probation, a defendant is convicted of an offense and is given a term of imprisonment that is immediately suspended. The defendant is placed on probation in lieu of imprisonment. The second type of probation is deferred adjudication probation. In this type of probation, the defendant is placed on probation without a finding of guilt. The third type of probation is continuing jurisdiction probation or "shock" probation. In this type of probation, the defendant is convicted and sentenced to a term of imprisonment. | A person commits the offense of gambling when he or she makes a bet on the result of a game or contest or on the performance of a participant in the game or contest; when he or she makes a bet on the result of a political nomination, appointment, or election, or on the success of any political nominee, candidate, or appointee; or when he or she plays and bets for money or for any item of value on any game that is played with cards, dice, balls, or other gambling devices. | Witnesses and Confidential or Classified Information |
| Prosecutions involving issues of war, national security or espionage may involve witness testimony and classified information. Classified information is defined as information that should not be disclosed to the public because of the sensitivity of the information or the source from which the information was derived. Prosecutors and defense attorneys should avoid divulging classified information during the witness's testimony.
